Why Isn't My Tortoise Coming Out?
Don’t be alarmed if you haven’t seen your tortoise for almost a week.
When summer temperatures are very hot in the Las Vegas area, tortoises may choose to stay in the coolest place they know, their burrows.
In fact, some tortoises stay in their burrows for weeks at a time. They will come out when the hot spell is over or if it rains.
If your tortoise has been eating well up to now, it has a good reserve for periods just like these. This is normal tortoise behavior.
