MORE ABOUT US
PRINTED INFORMATION
Tortoise Group has written an illustrated pamphlet entitled Desert Tortoises, Adoption and Care. It is primarily for people living within the range of the desert tortoise in the southwest deserts of the U.S. In southern Nevada it is available, free, from any veterinary clinic or public library in Clark County or Pahrump. The contents of the pamphlet are included in this website.
Newsletter. The Newsletter is published four times a year. To receive it, contact us at (702) 739-8043 or tortoisegroup@att.net. For the most recent issue, “See the Adoption and Care pamphlet on our Home page.” .
MONTHLY PROGRAMSOur monthly meetings are for the general public. We meet on the third Saturday of the month, March through September, 1-3 p.m. at the Nevada State Museum in Lorenzi Park, Las Vegas. There are guest speakers, free literature, and a chance to talk with other tortoise enthusiasts. There is usually one field trip each year. For upcoming meetings, see Events Calendar.
SPEAKERS
Speakers from the Tortoise Group will give presentations to school classes, and youth and adult groups. Using live tortoises, slides and other demonstration material we can stress the subject area of your interest to include information such as the life of the wild tortoise, adaptation of the tortoise for living in the desert, local tortoise conservation efforts, or adoption and care.
